How to Plan for Diablo 4 Respec Costs with U4GM

Diablo 4 Season 16's PTR introduces Tyrael's Boons, with four paths, 132 points and a pricey reset. Here's what to consider before spending your points.

Tyrael's Boons could make your route to better D4 items feel very different in Season 16. The catch Taking back a single point costs 5,000,000 gold on the PTR. That's a steep price when you're still funding upgrades, so it's worth thinking about where your character will be a few weeks into the season, not just what looks useful on day one.

Plan Around the Point Limit

You can earn up to 132 points, enough to take four of six available selections across the four paths. You won't be able to grab every option, and shifting several points later could drain your gold fast. Start with the rewards you expect to use most. A fresh character might value experience and gold, while someone already running Torment may care more about Ancestral gear. Every seasonal character can access the system, and you don't need the Lord of Hatred expansion to take part.

Where Each Path Fits

Scent of Gold is the comfortable early pick. It boosts gold and experience, with options for extra materials, gems, and a better shot at Legendaries. Curious Addition focuses on the Purveyor of Curiosities, offering ways to get a second item or pursue better-quality gear. One option raises the chance of Ancestral items but also makes purchases more expensive. Merchant of Mystery comes into play at Torment, where a merchant sells caches for Forgotten Souls. Its upgrades can improve Ancestral Cache offerings or open purchases using Runes or Gems. If you're not farming Torment yet, you might want to look elsewhere first.

Save Materials for Better Gear

Trash for Treasure is aimed at players who spend plenty of time upgrading equipment. It can reduce Alchemist transmuting costs and improve access to materials such as Forgotten Souls and Obducite. It also opens Greater Temper, a Horadric Cube recipe that upgrades a Tempered Affix to a Greater Affix. Each use requires 30 Scrolls of Restoration and 1,000 Obducite, according to the PTR information. That's a serious investment, so keep an eye on your supplies before committing them to a piece you may soon replace.

Keep Your Options in View

Tyrael's Boons sits alongside Seasonal Blessings rather than replacing them, giving players another layer of choices for their builds. If you're considering whether to buy cheap D4 items, remember that your Boon choices still depend on the activities you enjoy and the resources you can earn. PTR details can shift before release, so check the launch notes for point limits, recipe requirements, and respec costs before settling on a long-term plan.
