The Jio IPO bidding window has closed, but the process is the same for future IPOs.
What you need
- A demat account and trading account
- A bank account linked to UPI
- Enough balance to cover the bid
Steps
- Check the dates and price band in the offer document.
- Open the IPO section of your broker app.
- Select the issue and the category, such as retail.
- Enter the lots and the price or choose the cut-off price.
- Enter your UPI ID and submit.
- Approve the mandate on your UPI app before the deadline.
- Wait for allotment and check the registrar's status.
The Jio example
One lot was 12 shares, costing Rs 12,780 to Rs 13,428. On the last day, applications closed at 5 pm and UPI mandates had to be created by 7 pm .
Common mistakes
- Not approving the UPI mandate
- Using the wrong PAN or demat details
- Applying at the last minute
- Entering a price outside the band
About cut-off bids
Bidding at the cut-off price makes the bid valid at whatever final price is fixed in the band.
After the issue
If you are not allotted, the blocked amount is released. If allotted, shares appear in your demat account.
