PoE 2 Balbala Boss Guide: Master the Fight With U4GM

Balbala, the Traitor is an important boss in Path of Exile 2's Act 2. Defeating her is part of the journey toward unlocking your first Ascendancy, making this encounter worth preparing for before entering the arena. Her poison attacks, summoned enemies, and disappearing act can catch unprepared players off guard. With the right approach, however, you can bring her down without wasting too many attempts or crafting materials. Managing your gear and POE 2 Currency wisely can also help you prepare for the challenges ahead.

Where to Find Balbala in Path of Exile 2

Balbala is located in Traitor's Passage, within the Prison of the Disgraced in Act 2. As you explore the area, look for paper seals along the cave walls and the nearby Decree of Imprisonment.

To start the fight, follow these steps:

• Explore Traitor's Passage until you reach Balbala's sealed prison.

• Locate the three Runic Seals restraining her.

• Remove all three seals to release Balbala and trigger the boss encounter.

• Before engaging, check your life, flasks, and equipment.

The arena is relatively small, with a central pit that restricts movement. Avoid cutting across the middle when dodging attacks, as the terrain can limit your escape options.

How to Beat Balbala: Attacks and Combat Tips

Balbala moves quickly and uses poison-based attacks to punish players who stand still for too long. Rather than trying to deal constant damage, focus on recognizing her attack patterns and finding safe openings.

Here are a few practical tips:

• Keep moving: Her daggers and quick attacks make stationary combat dangerous. Attack briefly, then reposition.

• Improve your defenses: Poison protection and chaos resistance can help you survive mistakes, although dodging remains your best defense.

• Watch the golden runes: Coin-like runes appear around the arena. Step over them to prevent additional enemies from spawning.

• Avoid getting surrounded: Clear the runes when it is safe, but do not lose track of Balbala while doing so.

If your damage feels too low, consider upgrading your weapon before trying again. Players looking to buy POE 2 Currency can use additional crafting resources to work toward better equipment, but improving your movement and learning the mechanics will make the biggest difference during the fight.

How to Survive Balbala's Poison Gas Phase

The poison gas mechanic is the part of the encounter that causes the most confusion. Balbala disappears, and poisonous gas spreads through the arena. Staying in the wrong area for too long can quickly drain your life.

Follow this sequence when the gas appears:

1. Stop focusing on damage and move toward the outer edge of the arena.

2. Search around the perimeter for Balbala's hidden position.

3. Approach her to reveal her location and end the gas phase.

4. Dodge immediately when she reappears, as she follows this sequence with a powerful slam.

5. Resume attacking once the slam has been avoided.

Do not waste time waiting in the center or blindly attacking through the gas. Finding Balbala is the key to ending this phase. Once you recognize the sequence, the encounter becomes much more manageable.

Balbala Rewards and the Trial of the Sekhemas

After defeating Balbala, collect Balbala's Barya, the quest item needed to access the Trial of the Sekhemas. Return to the Ardura Caravan and speak with Zarka, then use the Desert Map to travel to the trial.

Balbala later appears as an advisor during the trial instead of fighting you again.

Keep in mind that defeating her does not immediately grant Ascendancy points. You still need to complete the introductory trial and defeat Rattlecage, the Earthbreaker, before claiming your first two points at the Altar of Ascendancy.

Before entering, check your equipment and make sure you have enough resources for the challenges ahead. If you need additional crafting materials, comparing cheap POE 2 Currency options may help you prepare without spending more than necessary.
